We are only in the first quarter of 2017, and already our Scan Retail team has been super busy. Recently we attended EuroShop in Düsseldorf, Germany. With customers were accustomed to looking to screens for information, the crossover between in-store design and digital display features has become even more prominent. Dimensionality is a key theme for 2017. Yes, today’s retailers are making things bigger, as was clearly evident at EuroShop 2017; larger backlit fabric prints with high-resolution printing, impressive 3D elements, huge monolithic tiles (tiles inspired by a blend of stone and earthy qualities), and sleek surface materials in white, black and shades of neutrals, all created engaging, eye-catching displays.

Sustainable materials were also in the spotlight. The fifth edition Cape Town Art Fair showcased a diverse selection of International and African art at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from Friday, 17, until Sunday, 19 February 2017. The Art Fair is produced by Fiera Milano Exhibitions Africa of the Fiera Milano Group, one of the world’s leading events companies. The show is designed for art dealers to showcase their work to art collectors and investors.

 

For this year’s event, Scan Display was appointed to build 1.4-kilometres exhibition infrastructure seamless 3,6-metre-high walling displaying thought-provoking and desirable, beautiful work from top artists. The project was an Innovative, significant achievement for the Scan team, as it was built with a tight build time of only three days before the fair.

 

Attendees were not only able to visit the participating galleries, but they also popped into specially curated exhibits and took part in a series of talks about Africa’s art scene.  The aim of these talks was to explore the history, origins, cultural heritage, geographic beauty and global relevance of our art, with the intent of further entrenching Africa as an important creative influencer.
